What you'll do

From day one, you’ll work with Relationship Managers and specialist teams to support Commercial Banking clients. You’ll help build an understanding of each client’s business, goals and challenges, and see how HSBC brings together the right expertise to respond. You could support client presentations, reports and credit papers, help with strategic reviews and pitches, and carry out financial analysis and risk assessments on portfolios and transactions. You’ll also work with colleagues across Legal, Credit and Risk, and see how teams collaborate across functions and geographies to deliver tailored solutions. It’s practical, relationship-led work that gives you real exposure to how client partnerships are built and supported.

What you'll learn

You’ll build a practical understanding of relationship management in commercial banking, starting with how client needs, profitability and risk are balanced in real situations. Through your internship, you’ll strengthen your commercial awareness, learn how different teams work together to support clients, and begin to understand how banking solutions are shaped around business goals. You’ll also develop your confidence in a professional environment by learning from colleagues and seeing how relationship-led careers work day to day. The focus is on helping you connect what you’re seeing to the bigger picture of commercial banking. By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of how this area fits together—and where you could fit within it.

Where you'll work

You’ll work in Commercial Banking, in a relationship-led environment supporting business clients through close teamwork and specialist expertise. You’ll be part of a collaborative office culture where Relationship Managers work closely with colleagues across Credit, Risk and Legal to deliver joined-up support. It’s a professional setting that values trust, communication and strong internal partnerships. Expect exposure to a business area where client relationships sit at the centre and teamwork makes the difference.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, you must:

• Available to work full time for 10 weeks commencing June 2027
• Will have completed studies by July 2028
• On-track to obtain a minimum of a 2:1 undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent to this)
• Be in your penultimate year of undergraduate study
• Fluent in English
• Legally permitted to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme and beyond the end date, without requiring HSBC visa sponsorship 

Please provide your achieved or expected final undergraduate degree result using the grading system used by your university (e.g. 2:1, First Class, GPA 3.5/4.0, 75% or local equivalent).

Additional information

This particular program does not satisfy the Home Office eligibility criteria for visa sponsorship.
